This was interesting! Honestly for the narrator being kinda stale at times, it kept my interest and I struggle with audiobooks so, credit to where credit is due here. I liked the dive into questioning her own reality towards the end after her experiences, and many of the questions she asked throughout are still relevant today. For having most of this be unfinished notes, it reads incredibly well.

idk joan this one's kind of a flop and i hate to say it

I know a lot of people love Didion, but jeez, this was unreadable. Maybe because it was just a bunch of her notes, but there was just nothing compelling about her writing. I regret spending money on this for the Belletrist book club. Blah.

Didion's impressions of the South have aged... interestingly. A quick read, definitely worth the time.

I really wanted to like this. Every time I picked it up. All holiday long. 69 out of 126 pages. I’m done. It’s just not for me. Some great imagery but not enough to keep me flipping the pages.

Read another 20 pages after reading another review. Still nothing. Some books just don’t resonate.
