I’ve enjoyed reading these books so much! Each one is better than the last.

I like these books and the series. Good always wins, but evil is still present and bad things still happen. Kind of like life. However(and this goes for the rest of them as well), they are all starting to run together and sound somewhat the same. The characters are rather similar (always the same animals are the good and bad and it's just different generations), so I'm not sure if I'm going to keep reading through the whole series.

Redwall was my beloved childhood series. I have read "Martin the Warrior" and "Redwall" more times than I can count. This was my first time returning to the series as an adult and I'm so glad to report that the series still holds up. There is a comfort in the formulaic storytelling of dear Brian Jacques that makes reading his work cozy and warm like Cavern Hole, even when Mariel and friends are out fighting searats and facing danger and death. A lovely comforting read despite everything.

Mariel will always hold a special place in my heart, alongside Mathias and Martin. While I thoroughly enjoy every Redwall book this is one of a handful I would elevate above the rest in my experience. Something about not just protecting the Abby but going out and seeking revenge. This was one of the very early influences on my fitness journey (alongside Therrin of the Icemark and Alana of Tortall).

After maybe 10 years of letting these books gather dust on my shelves I am more than happy to be revisiting these old friends.
