Focused and straightforward, Brief Lives takes the reader on a family roadtrip and provides an emotional conclusion to Orpheus's story. Dream feels oddly passive in this album.

I really liked the character development in this one. I also loved getting to see more of the Endless. This one is deep enough that it deserves a reread. It honestly could’ve been a little shorter so I would give it a 4.75. I liked reading the post script. Viewing this story through a lens of change is beautiful.

Favorite quotes:

You lived what anybody gets. You got a lifetime. No more. No less.

One cannot begin a new dream without abandoning the last [one].

Delirium: Um. What’s the name of the word for things not being the same always. You know. I’m sure there is one. Isn’t there? There must be a word for it… the thing that lets you know time is happening. Is there a word?
Dream: Change.

More of this great graphic narrative from Gaiman. It has become obvious to me that these stories are deep and penetrating, and deserve and demand re-reading. On to collection #8, "Worlds' End".
