This was a lovely little love story that sucks one in quickly with its endearing characters. It is an easy read that can be started and finished in an evening.

Perfect and delightful short read, sweet, romantic and delicious

3 ⭐️ not entirely sure how to feel about this book. on one hand, this was a charming and whimsical feel-good love story set in paris that featured two lonely souls finding their way to each other through the mystery of a stolen handbag. on the other hand, this was some joe from “you” material that required a fair share of suspension of disbelief even though we got laurent’s pov and knew straight away that he is a kind caring man with no ulterior motives. still, this was essentially a story about a man stalking a woman and it’s not something i would necessarily classify as romantic. both main characters were extremely likable, so good for them, but if a complete stranger went through my personal journal, found my name and address, got into my apartment under false pretenses and hung out with my cat, i wouldn’t let that slide. i would Move immediately.
bonus points for all the cat content. minus points for pascal’s entire character, chloé’s internalized misogyny and the completely unnecessary episode of her pretending that her father is her older boyfriend in front of some girls in her school?? not sure what that was all about. more bonus points for william losing his whole entire mind trying to figure out if laurent is a real person or a figment of his imagination, that scene was so incredibly funny.

Super quick read with a decidedly French feel. For any francophile who loves books and dabbles in romance, this is a good choice. A great companion on my recent trip to Europe.

A wonderful wee book that was absolutely what I needed. Reading it felt like taking a stroll down a small side street whilst on holiday in Europe, wearing your favourite flowy dress and new sunglasses, with the sun on your face and the knowledge that you have nothing to do for the rest of the day.
