In this short standalone novelette you get to meet Lilly Meratoliage and Lilly gets to meet herself over and over. This is a quirky fun and scary story that will keep you guessing and turning pages.

The synopsis on the Kobo website - signed by the author - pulled me into this short read. There is nothing wrong with this novella, but there isn't anything remarkable about it either. Which is a shame because the premise of a pair of healing-voodoo-boots that demand a heavy price from their owner could have been really interesting - but I am not enticed at all to read the next book in this series or the original series that this one spins off of.

Ultimately, this is a light, urban fantasy, novella with a fast romance and some action. With only 50 pages, I would recommend this as a mental palette cleanser between more intricate, full length fantasy novels.
