I really loved the prose in this one. It was that old-fashioned type that I really love and miss.
I also thought this was going to be a redemption story for the sultan and was pleasantly surprised it wasn’t, since he did not deserve redemption. I also liked that there was no romance. It appeared that Dunya and Munir remained friends (which is good because there seemed to be a pretty big age gap.)
Also, hurray for female friendships being some of the most important in the book.
