This book kicks so much ass! Don't be fooled by the cute cover, this book is hardcore. I'm a huge fan of the film, and the book is amazing!

Apparently O'Brien's daughter wrote 2 sequels that I might look into.. hope they aren't horrible.

I loved this movie growing up, but never read the book. I thought it would be good choice to read to the kids. It turned out to be very boring in the middle, and it never did recapture their attention.

This was a great story! Intriguing, paced SO well, and creative. It also had enough action and danger to be interesting without the evil being too intense or present; for example, the doctors who experimented on the NIMH rats are kind to them, and the experiments they do are not cruel; the rats leave simply because they wish to be free. My biggest complaint is that the story felt unfinished. It ended really abruptly, so abruptly that it felt like it was setting up for a sequel - but the only sequel wasn't even written by the same author, which is disappointing. Overall, I enjoyed the storytelling and found it to be worth reading, though I wish it were about twice as long or more.

I read this for the 2018 POPSUGAR Reading Challenge as a childhood classic I’ve never read. I’m not sure how this classic escaped my notice considering how much I loved animal books as a kid, but I’m so glad this book was recommended to me by a friend and I had a legitimate excuse to read it. Sometimes that’s my favorite part of the POPSUGAR Reading Challenge since it “forces” me to read books I would otherwise let sit on my shelf for years.

This was a wonderful story about Mrs. Frisby and the rats who helped her when she wasn’t sure what else she would do. The sci-fi/otherworldly element to the story was awesome and intriguing to read about even as an adult. I enjoyed the book a lot more than I expected to and I can see why it’s a favorite for so many readers!
