I didn't think I would love this book as much as I did. It was a quick read, but all of the characters are delightful, as is the world they live in. I especially love that the main character does the brave thing, but remains sensible as well throughout.

I missed this one as a kid somehow, but remember loving the movie. Listened to the audio with the kids and really enjoyed it!

I adore this tale about a mouse who needs to move her house and the smart, brave, escaped laboratory subject rat friends she makes.

I kind of wish the story ahd been about the rats and their arc from living in the sewers and alleys to becoming lab rats and how they lived after their escape, but that story would probably not be for the young children that this one is, where there's a little boy mouse who's sick, and his mother must do some very brave things to keep him safe.

This is quite different from the movie, which I saw as a child and loved, but somehow never clued that it was based on a book, or that I could probably find said book at our local library which I loved to visit. Or maybe I did find it, and it was too different from the movie, which young me might have objected to.

hard to read but so good ah

Not nearly as mysterious, dark and suspenseful as the animation movie. It's an okay book for children, around age 10 I guess.

What a delightful story! We read this aloud during a long car ride and it was perfect. It's refreshing to read a children's book and get a happy ending with uncomplicated emotions in the middle. I especially loved the descriptions of the farm, nature, and wildlife throughout the story.
