Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH was one of my favorite books as a child, and I still adore it to this day. Thought-provoking, beautiful, and tragic all at once, I love the clever mix of science and fantasy, the unique characters each with their own internal conflicts, and the plot that keeps me until the very end.

As someone who grew up with the film, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH was a book I was very excited to read. It didn't disappoint. Of course, the two versions are very different (as most book-to-movie adaptations tend to be), but when you read the novel, it's easy to see where the sincerity, sweetness, and overall loveability were born. Your heart aches for Mrs. Frisby and her sick, soon-to-be-displaced family; it races with the rats, determined to make a place for themselves in a human-ruled world; and it dances at every little victory the characters achieve. In short, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH is a true joy to read.

super fun to teach

This book is really good. It is also cool because the rats were lab rats so they can read. They have elctricity and tables and books.

I grew up watching the movie, so this holds a special place in my heart. The pacing was perfect. The rats and mice were sympathetic while still acknowledging their faults as recognized by humans. Brilliantly done.

I had a crush on Justin, and my English teacher thought I was the biggest whore because of it.
