Lovely story of survival and a good reminder of human impact.
Another childhood fave. Give me a band of kind and clever anthropomorphic animals and I'm happy, simple as that.

This is a wonderful story. I first saw the movie many years ago and loved it but the book differs in important ways.
There is no magical amulet in the book and Jenner is not portrayed as an evil usurper either. The story in the book is more down to earth and natural. Mrs. Frisby resolves her moving day dilema with the help of the rats and each go their separate ways at the end. It's a good story and, for the most part, I was happy with the ending.
The story flowed well but slowed down just a tiny bit when Mr. Ages was telling his story to Mrs. Frisby about his experience at NIMH and later, when he shares the plan that he and the rats have for their new life away from the farm.
I would recommend this book to children and adults alike.
