The only award I ever won for my drawing skills was in 3rd grade. I received 3rd place in my class for drawing a picture of Mrs. Frisby. We had to draw a picture from the RIF book we had chosen. This book was awesome, as was the movie.

A classic for a reason! A beautiful children’s story that warmed the heart. It’s more understated than the movie, which made it much darker and more action oriented, but I like the charm of the more simple tale a lot.
I love Watership Down, so I’m really surprised that I never read this book as a child. It’s right up my alley.
Mrs, Frisby isn’t a genetically-modified Mouse or Rat, she’s just a mom with four children, trying to keep her family happy and healthy. But because of her gumption and kindness she falls in with the Rats of NIHM, escaped super-mice with a mysterious past and powerful enemies.
It’s very darling. The only reason it’s not five stars is I can’t imagine wanting to read it again.

Our school decided to read this book for our One School One Book activity. I had trouble putting it down.

I have not read this classic until now, but remember watching the movie when I was a kid and it was one of my favorites. Now I am curious what the rest of the series is like and if the movie took elements from each of the books and combined them into one, or if the movie is just different.

3 1/2 stars
Story is good but the delivery is a bit off. A good majority of the book is taken up by flashback, so that it makes the initial conflict seem not so dire and therefore kinda boring once resolved, which is quite quick.
