The illustrations were stunning!! I appreciated the idea behind the book but thought it could have been executed a bit better. Kids are incredibly smart often underestimated and I felt this could have been better with that in mind. I personally found the capital G mention of god was unnecessary and exclusionary. However, might also be seen as a bridge between science and religion and I am not opposed to that. Whatever promotes conversation is great! This just good have been executed better.

I want to like this more than I did. I want to love this. The illustrations tie in nicely to the text but, I guess, it just doesn't personally speak to me though I see many others loving it!

The illustrations in this book are gorgeous! The story was fantastic. It had my 5 year old son hooked. While reading this I am reminded of the following quote by Carl Sagan:

“The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of starstuff.”
― Carl Sagan, Cosmos

Any book that reminds me of the great Carl Sagan is a fantastic book in my opinion. There are no quotes by Carl Sagan in this book but it just reminded me of this great quote. This is a gorgeous book that I highly recommend!

A beautiful telling of the creation of the universe through the Big Bang and how we are all made of the stuff of stars.

Would be a great baby gift. God is mentioned so keep that in mind.

The illustrations in this book are gorgeous, although a bit confusing to my eye. I didn't love the text, but I loved the message that every person has value.
