I read this for class, I’ve never been a big fan of historical fiction but the perspective of a 12 year old was something I enjoyed

This book may be short - but it was sure fun to read.
The story takes place in Jerusalem during the time when Britain soliders were occupying it. The main character of the story is 12 years old Proffy who describes what is like to live in those times. He manages to befriend a British solider - Sergeant Dunlop.
There was a movie made after this book - Little traitor - it's one of my absolutely favourite movies though it's rather different than book since some things were added to the movie that weren't in the book.
Nevertheless this book was fun to read and I do plan to read it again later on.

Beautiful writing, but not much of a story or any interesting characters.

Zionist propaganda, easy to read though and it was easy to get invested in the story. Except there was no story. There was no ending. You keep waiting for it to happen and it never does.
The depiction of Arabs is atrocious, calling them "bloodthirsty" when the narrator has never even met an Arab. The self-centered nature in the book is just so hard to overcome if you like reading. The author's ignorance is just too much. The characters talk about their hardships as grandchildren of Holocaust victims, but then proceed to spread bigotry of their own. Extremely tone deaf. Do not read.
