Don't ever look behind door 32 is a children's book about a magical hotel with 32 room. Behind each door are some weird and wonderful things and creatures but whatever you do, don't ever look behind door 32. What is behind door 32? Can you resist?

This is a lovely little children's story. It has a really easy flow to it, really nice rhymes which help with the flow of the story. I really enjoyed this book. My only criticism is that the pictures didn't fit very well in my ARC, they were all split up and jumbled, so I wasn't able to enjoy the pictures along with the story.

But all in all a lovely little book, I can't wait to read it to my little nephew and my new baby niece.

Thank You to the author for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I've had the opportunity to read a couple of other books by B.C.R. Fegan, and have loved all of them, so when the opportunity to give this one a read came around, I jumped at the chance. And once again, Fegan does not disappoint.

This book is so much fun. It's a great book for both working with counting and rhymes (my early childhood specialization is coming out, sorry), and I'm so sure that kids will love a silly, strange story such as this. There are so many great things going on in this book, and I can totally see this book being placed in on every preschool bookshelf.

The Good Points of Don't Ever Look Behind Door 32:

This story is told so well. I read this aloud to my partner, and it was so easy to read and flowed so well. The words and characters and explanations just work together so beautifully, and while I want to know more about all of these rooms, it was just enough to make it work.

As always with Fegan's books, the illustrations are beautiful. Lenny Wen did an amazing job of capturing the atmosphere of the story and going above and beyond with the detail and colours.

I liked the ending! There are some reviews I've read saying that it's underwhelming and such, but I thought it was cute and would be an awesome way to bring up topics related to it.

The Downsides of Don't Ever Look Behind Door 32:

I honestly only have one downside for this book, and it's the fact that I noticed some issues with plurals and possessives in the writing. The way they were written makes sense, because it flows for the poetry aspect, but there were missing apostrophes where one needed to be, which threw me off when I read it aloud. It's a little thing, but it should have been checked (though maybe it was just my copy? I haven't seen anything else being said about this).

All in all, this book is awesome, and I'm so glad to see another Fegan book out in the world. If you and/or your kid likes silly stories, amazing illustrations, or enjoys numbers and counting, you should definitely check out Don't Ever Look Behind Door 32!

This is the third book I have read by this author, and like all the other ones it doesn’t disappoint. What strikes you first of all is the detail of the cover, which only gets better throughout the book. The illustrator is a great compliment to the author, they really make a great team.

The story of this book is really sweet. It’s designed to teach its target audience to count, and introduce them to rhyme. On every page there is the comment “Don’t ever look behind door 32" which only causes the reader to want to look behind that door to just see what’s there. What’s there is perfectly innocent but perfectly understandable but to find out what it is you’ll have to read the book yourself.

Don’t Ever Look Behind Door 32 is a young children’s book written by B.C.R. Fegan and illustrated by Lenny Wen. This book follows Mr. Nicholas Noo and his two new guests at Hotel of Hoo. It is a magical tour of a fantastical hotel. The two children see where they will stay and learn all about the other occupants and happenings behind the other doors in Hotel of Hoo. We encounter a variety of magical beings through the suspense narrative of not looking behind Door 32. During this trek through Hotel of Hoo, we get delightful rhymes and good times.

Don’t Ever Look Behind Door 32 is an amazing, lovely, endearing tale where we get to traverse through Hotel of Hoo. The title seems to be a cute play on words as we find there are many “whos” lives in the castle. The type of creatures we encounter are fantastical and sometimes, not even heard of before. The mermaid vampires were my favorite. I love how the book has rhyming throughout its tale. Not only is it in a language that children will mostly understand, but also learn new words from, it rhymes, which is all good for children’s development. I would say that this book is perfect for young children, between the ages of 3 to 8. I am an adult, and I enjoyed reading it and would love to share it with all young children I know. Not only does it help with language development, but it also helps with counting. We get to see inside each door in sequential order, counting from Door 1 to Door 32.

What I really love about this book, as a trained early childhood educator, is that it is so simple but so complex in its aiding children in their sense of language, counting, and wonder. The book weaves a story of intrigue and suspense through the simple concept of not looking behind a specific door. The first thing a child is going to want to know is what is behind that door. This could lead to critical thinking skills. Additionally, as someone who had to write hundreds of lesson plans, I could definitely see many lesson plans being written to incorporate this book. The surprise ending also teaches children about the importance of privacy. I love a good book that is not only fun but can bring about many learning experiences and help develop young minds.

Not only is this book great fun, but it has beautiful illustrations. I think the illustrations help with the intrigue and suspense. We get to see so many beautiful illustrations about what is behind different doors in the Hotel. Each door has a new creature or new adventure awaiting you. I know as a kid I would have loved to have that library. I think the illustrations in the book compliments the story so well. I highly recommend this wonderful book to any teacher or parent of young children. And you will enjoy it too!

Jolly good fun! Rhyming text takes two children through a hotel, stopping at each room to describe it. Filled with creatures of all kinds, this is an entertaining read.

Recommended for children 3 to 8, Don’t Ever Look Behind Door 32 is a silly, rhyming read that’s sure to please.

I wasn’t quite sure what I was getting into when I picked this little picture book up. Would it be scary? Would the illustrations be creepy? Would the story be fun?

The text and illustrations are incredibly kid-friendly, and while they seem to be building up to a big scary reveal – it all ends in a wonderfully silly way. The rhyming descriptions of the strange, silly, or weird things to be found in each room of the hotel are fun to read aloud and sure to inspire some giggles from the littles.

Some of the illustrations are of monsters or goblins, but they are so colourful and full of smiles and funny antics, that they aren’t frightening at all.

Don’t Ever Look Behind Door 32 is a fun, friendly picture book that builds up to a hilarious ending.
