Just after seeing the first page I knew I had to buy this, the art is so beautiful! I didn’t like how Enola’s mom’s disappearance just gets kind of forgotten about, it stops focusing on trying to find her for some reason and focuses on Enola trying to find other people for other mysterious disappearances.

Each panel is its own painting. The art is so nice and pretty. Once Enola finds the clues from her mom I got more invested but then it skips 5 weeks. I was excited to see all of the clues. I like Enola and her determination to find her mom. I didn’t really understand why in episode 2 that plot just doesn’t get focused on anymore, her mom and looking for her isn’t even mentioned in that part. And then again in the 3rd part, her mom is mentioned very briefly but the plot mainly focuses on Enola trying to be a detective for cases not even concerning her mom. I thought the main plot and thing that Enola would care about would be finding her mom? I’m so confused as to why figuring out where her mom is just got pushed aside and wasn’t focused on anymore. I just don’t like how the author chose to make the main character spend more time trying to solve the mysteries of other people that aren’t her mom. Like that’s just not realistic at all, as well as why did we barely get to see any of the clues her mom left her and then we just moved on. I would have enjoyed this more and rated it higher if we had gone back to focusing on looking for her mom. I know there’s more books after this and I am interested in reading them, maybe it goes back to focusing on that more? I really enjoyed episode 1 but episode 2 & 3 just felt really different. I still enjoyed them but I wish they had come back to focus on the original plot from ep 1.

'Enola Holmes: The Graphic Novels' with adaptation and art by Serena Blasco is a graphic novel adaptation of the novels by Nancy Springer.

Enola Holmes has two famous brothers and a missing mother. Her brothers decide to send her off to finishing school for her to become a proper lady. Enola has other plans including hiding in plain sight in elaborate disguises and maybe even solving a few mysteries along the way.

I've not read the books, but I have seen the streaming series based on the books, but they feel like decent adaptations. The art is fun and I especially like the addition of Enola's notebook at the end of each graphic novel showing her thought process

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

I like Enola Holmes mysteries and this graphic novel was just the thing for me. It is pretty accurately based on the first three books and is in no way been affected by the movie which is different from the original story, although it’s not in any way a bad thing, as it was in fact quite a good movie!

I received an eARC of this title through NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I thought this was a good adaptation of the Enola Holmes books. This is a collection of the first 3 installments to the series, and I feel like it hit all the high points of the book really well. It was also nice that the adaptation kept some of the elements of talking about how Enola did not understand why men treated women so differently when they could both succeed in similar ways.

The artwork in this adaptation is something I quite enjoyed. It was a watercolor-esque style which I thought was appropriate for the story and the age group who would be reading it.

If you enjoyed the books, I think you will enjoy this graphic novel adaptation. If you haven't read the books but want to enjoy the story, this is also something you will enjoy.

Thank you to Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

This is a great early introduction to Sherlock Holmes for middle grade readers.

The stories and illustrations are engaging. My middle grade daughter and I had fun deciphering the clues and solving the mysteries alongside Enola. Enola is clever and intuitive. She sets a good example for being independent, trusting yourself and your instincts, and getting creative in problem-solving.

The illustrations bring the setting and atmosphere of 1880s England to life for young readers. My daughter loves the style of the illustrations and wants to emulate them.

For those with kids on the younger end of the recommended age group, be aware that there are attempts on Enola’s life in the book, someone being institutionalized, a murder, and a Jack the Ripper reference.

This was better than the novels because it takes on the charcter more of enola from the netflix movies than from the original novels.
