Can't call yourself a true noir fan until you've read this. Multiple narrators... One, unreliable. So great.

i don't really read mysteries or crime books, or at least haven't recently, and read this for a film noir class i'm about to TA. and idk i was pleasantly surprised by how much i enjoyed this, and it helps that it's been like 6 years since i last saw the film adaptation and pretty much forgot what the plot was. every time the narrator changed was so exhilarating to me. i'm excited to go back and see how the film version neutered some of the plot-points for censorship reasons.

The movie has always been a five for me. The book is a four. I know it was written in 1943 but the slurs and demonization of obese people was a bit much.
