3.5

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, but I'm giving it 3.5 stars because I don't think it's going to stick with me for very long. I really appreciated the originality of the idea and the execution. His mom's letters and the letters from The One That Got Away were especially well done, partly because of the absurdity of their responses to their situations. Neither reacts fully how you'd expect and it's fascinating to see the arc of their stories.
Also, there’s this weird paranormal element that’s spooky, but never really gets followed through on. I wish it just hadn’t been included at all.
