A good example of the mystery/thriller genre in general, with specific details and story elements that made it even more compelling. It's set in 2008, when we now know what many of us didn't know then about both the opioid epidemic and the epidemic of missing and murdered indigenous women and girls. The audiobook narrators were also good.

Crooked families, drugs, land theft and mostly a story of missing and murdered Indigenous women (MMIWG2S) come together to make this outstanding twisty mystery set in NE Oklahoma written by a Citizen of the Cherokee Nation.

Phenomenal. One of the best novels I have read in a long time. Twists, turns, keeps you in your feet. Such a wonderful read. THIS is a book all should be talking about.

this reminded me of why i loved mystery books growing up. i was on the edge of my seat for most of the book with all the twists and turns. the fact that this all took place in a town i'd never heard of that's less than 2 hours away from me was honestly really cool. it made me do more research on the town, as this book is fictional but based on true events that took place there. this was suspenseful af and very graphic at times, but the author did a great job at including factual information about the history really well. i think my one gripe of the whole book was the fact that the MCs relationship with her pregnant wife was never like resolved really. and it felt like that was just tossed in the story. overall i had a great time and would read more from the author in the future!

Good story but to graphic in parts for my comfort zone.
