oh my god this book made me so so sad but so hopeful at the same time!! seeing em forster’s contemporary hope for a “happier year” made manifest in this book made me cry so bad. it’s a story of a redemption, divorcing oneself from the society and people who hold us back and choosing between conformity and happiness. it’s super sad for a while, but the ending is so worth it! a great read to take on this pride ❤️🏳️‍🌈

This was so good and touching. One the most dialogues I've ever read in my life. I loved the dialogue between the character in this story. The way E.M. Forster build up the characters and each one of them had a very specific and different personalities was amazing.
Clive is someone who has accumulated so much disgust and resentment in his life and Maurice learned to be more "open" with him, so it's quite bittersweet for this character whereas with Alec I just like to dfine him as a "free spirit" even tough he is a working class man and has his own material stuggles. Those characters loved deeply and beautifully. This book is really beautiful.

I read this book one afternoon in spring, lying outside on the grass in the sun and it was so incredibly beautiful
