I have read several in this series over the years and I still am not sure what to make of them. This installment is set in the 60s and involves drugs and child molestation and serial murder. But all of it is handled from a removed distance, without any sense of connection to the characters or events. It's almost like a dream sequence in a movie, with that vague sense of unreality. I didn't figure out whodunit and my chief suspect all but disappeared before the end of the book. At least it was a quick read and somewhat interesting and it means one less book on Mt TBR.
