Sherlock Holmes mystery adaptation taking place in St Paul, MN. Good but felt a little slow.

This case is not quite as intriguing as The Red Demon but any faults are redeemed by the introduction of St. Paul bartender/investigator Shadwell Rafferty. Imagine an Irishman as sharp as Moriarty but on the side of the angels, and add a dash of Hagrid's strength and physical presence, and you have the general idea behind Rafferty, who appears in later Holmes stories by Millett. As a longtime St. Paul resident, I also enjoyed the references to streets, buildings, and landmarks past and present, aided by an 1896 street map and my knowledge of the city in 2016.
