It was particularly fun to have it in common with my housemate; we visited an arboretum and were both saying things like, 'oh, I think these are the wild sunflowers Buffalo Bird Woman was talking about,' or, 'a cottonwood tree! do you remember what Buffalo Bird Woman said these were good for?' It is, of course, very much an anthropological text with sometimes different priorities than what Buffalo Bird Woman might have wanted to say, but it seemed to have a relatively light touch -- certainly it was much more respectful than what I'm used to in 18thC texts -- and made me want to read Wilson's other works.
