73 short essays of things different people believe.

Sometimes, when reading these, I realize how fortunate I am.

Sometimes, I realize that I am not alone in what I suffer.

Sometimes, I get a glimpse into a very unique soul.

Always, I am inspired to write about what I believe.

73 eloquent pieces of things different people believe.

Pretty cool collection of very short essays from celebrities and "normal" folk alike, all of whom responded to the same prompt (What is your core belief?). Wonderful as a teaching tool for college English/composition courses, and probably for other humanities courses as well.

Meh... That's what my teenagers always say! I know this is supposed to be inspiring... But it's all too short, too neatly packaged, too wrapped up in a bow for me. I get it & think the idea is great... I just would rather read 2 great life stories than 27 five hundred word essays about different lives/beliefs

As with the first volume, the audiobook provides a very lovely radio-like listening experience in which each essay is read by the author with bonus music and introductory segments, too. One is even read from the International Space Station! Also like the first volume, I found the essays so enjoyable to listen to that I got a paper copy of the book so I could read it, too.

Another lovely collection of thoughtful essays. I read one each day and enjoyed the diversity of voices and perspectives.

See my review for "I thought my father was God." I love NPR compilations from real people. Love.

2.5 stars. First one was better from what I remember. I could see myself re-reading both at different points in my life to look for some sort of advice but many of these are very generic.

Another great collection of This I Believe essays to follow up volume 1. To be completely honest, I was more deeply moved by more of the essays in the first volume, but that is a merely a comparison between great and even greater. This I Believe 2 has its fair share of powerful tidbits of experience to offer from the wonderful people who took the time to contribute. I was once again left humbled and astonished by the wisdom and insight shared by This I Believe essayists.

I really don't have the words to explain how necessary I feel it is that every person read both volumes of this collection. No matter who you are, what your life has been like, and what your background is, you stand to be rewarded with valuable inner growth by partaking of the beliefs that these essayists have been so generous to make available.

Here's to hoping a third volume is published soon...
