I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't what I read in this novel - and that, is a good thing. I thought this novel would be a strong urban fantasy with some romance thrown in for good measure. However, the world building wasn't this novel's strongest point. The fantastical elements - as others have said - don't make much of a difference in the overall story telling. I'll be totally honest: the world building left A LOT to be desired. It felt very much like an after thought.

The strong point of this novel is the character and their romance. You can tell that the author really wanted to write a romance. Liam is a royal Empath. He's also searching for his soulmate in the United States. Laxshmi "Lucky" is a high school girl just trying to make it through high school. They are destined as soulmates. It's insta-love! (Which usually really bothers me, but somehow works here.) The descriptions and writing style is lovely. A really lovely quick romantic read.

I was sent a copy of this book to review by the author and publisher. Thank you Shaila Patel for allowing me to read and review this. This review does contain spoilers so reader beware!

Every time I started reading this book, I did not want to stop! The story line moves very fast, and it keeps you on your toes. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, there was a plot twist. The ending left me on such a cliffhanger!

I shipped Laxshmi (Lucky) and Liam since the start, and the ending left me on such a cliffhanger! Liam is a Royal empath from Ireland, who has moved multiple times to various places around the United States to find The One, or soul mate. He and his family move to Cary, North Carolina, where he meets Lucky, a beautiful and intelligent Indian girl. She fits all the criteria of Liam's dad's visions, unlike the other girls who only fit a few.

This book is a really good way to understand how empaths work, which is really uncommon in YA books. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next. I seriously need book two. Like yesterday 😄

Can I just say CHEMISTRY?! I haven't read a book with such sizzling, agonizing (in the best way possible) chemistry in a very long time. Lucky and Liam's connection was such a treat to follow throughout SOULMATED and I am actually dying for book 2. I read SOULMATED in a solid afternoon because I could not put it down. I'm warning you, Liam will soon reach the top of your book boyfriend list even from the first moment you meet him! If you're looking for a sizzling paranormal romance with complex characters, and a super hunky Irish love interest, SOULMATED is perfect for you.

I got to the end and all I could say was "oh my gosh". This is such a good book! I can not wait for the next one! I won't lie Lucky drove me a bit crazy but I ended up really liking her! And Liam, oh Liam, I need a Liam in my life. :D The alternating POV's in this book are really well written. I love being able to see what both are thinking.

Ms. Shaila Patel is definitely on my radar!

Soulmated grabs you from the very beginning and doesn't let go! Liam is a prince and an empath. His father wants him to solidify a position on the council. The best way to do that? Find the one person you are DESTINED to be with. The problem, it conflicts with what Liam wants and feels.

Lucky has the two options of graduating early and going to the Medical school of her mother's choice or an arranged marriage to a guy of her mother's choice. Neither option are desirable.

Everything changes when Liam moves in next door to Lucky. Their chemistry is off the charts! The interaction between Lucky and Liam is breathtaking. Both have the weight of the world on their shoulders, with impossible options and high expectations from their parents. What are they to do?!

What I loved the most was reading about Lucky's and Liam's cultures. Each culture was rich and beautifully written. I look forward to the next installment!

I liked it a lot until the ending, which was abrupt and confusing. This is definitely a beginning of what could either be a great or frustrating series.

An 18-year-old Irish royal, Liam, is in search of his soulmate. According to Irish lore a soulmate is more than someone you love it is someone you bond with in a mysterious way. Liam's father has seen visions for the past twelve years that have brought their entire family to a small town in North Carolina and two doors down from Laxshmi Kapadia. Laxshmi and Liam must figure out what the love between them means while also traversing normal teenage obstacles.

I love the fact that we get to learn about different cultures and see an Indian girl as a love interest. I do need to say though that this cover does not do the story justice.
