I liked this book . I am always picky when it comes to mystery novels and I admit I don't read this genre of books often but once in a while I feel the urge to read this genre.
If you are looking for a good mystery novel I highly recommend this one.

*I received this book for free through Goodreads Giveaways*

There is a lot in this book that goes over my head: Wall Street terminology, math terms and theorems, the structure of illicit crime organizations, New York. What kept me reading, however, was the writing style. Sears gives his main character, Jason Stafford, a wry, dry wit that keeps the pages turning even when it doesn't seem like much is happening in the plot. That and wanting to find out what happens to the son he is a "muddling through as best he could, but was still woefully inadequate" parent to.

Wow, it's taken me a very long time to finish the book. Thanks to Goodreads I'm able to tell you that the book didn't really take off until about 35% of the way through the book. I enjoyed the premise of the book, but I just feel that there was too much of a build up to the big parts and a slam down into the dark abyss afterward. Then you're back at the same pace until the book is finally concluded with a very quickly laid out plot to bring down the bad guys that I didn't quite grasp.

I was very impressed with Mr. Sears' understanding of an autistic young boy. It had to have been derived from a personal understanding. Bravo Mr. Sears, Bravo.

Based on the experience with this book from Mr. Sears, I fear I would not try to read another one of his books.

Another winner from Michael Sears! My favorite parts of these books is always the interaction between Jason Stafford and his autistic son, The Kid. Besides the complicated yet intriguing Wall Street mystery that drives this story, Jason is forced to travel through the intense New Mexico desert to find his son. This is a fast-paced and exciting read!

Jason Stafford spent some time in prison for various financial shenanigans. He lost his license but not his ability to detect financial fraud. His math is too good for that. Now, he works directly for Virgil Becker at Becker Financial and when Jason notices a disturbing trend on penny stock trading, he begins to investigate, but is called off. He should have been paid better attention. He ends up in WITSEC and his autistic son is kidnapped. Virgil is arrested and Aimee Devane, head of Compliance at Becker Financial is killed. Jason has too many dead bodies haunting his dreams. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys thrillers with a financial bent.
