Someone should write a book (or at least a decent college thesis) about authors whose fiction depicts the manner of their own deaths. Yes, yes -- this is all a distraction from the fact that I don't really know what to make of this odd, odd book. (Although the meta aspects were where Puskin's humor best shone through, and were my favorite parts.) Superb, absolutely beautiful reading experience. I'm not a huge reader of poetry but I can appreciate a masterpiece when I read one. Easy to see why Pushkin is held in such high esteem.
I look forward to reading this again, maybe a different translation or as an audiobook.
