Very excited to read the rest of the series. I'm sure these were just the beginning!! Excellent high fantasy.

The Last Wish is a fun collection of short stories that revolve around Geralt of Rivia and his colorful cast of companions. This book definitely feels like a mix of classic fairytales meets videogame side quests and it is just very whimsical and fun. I think it serves as a great basis for the readers to begin becoming acquainted with many of the main players in the Witcher series as a whole and highly recommend giving it a read.
Really really wanted to like this, but couldn’t get past the blatant sexism and disgusting
Kudos to the translator, because this was a very well-written book.

This book is a collection of short stories and is wonderful, but it is also dark fantasy and can make you feel uncomfortable at times.
After playing and adoring the games I wanted to get better acquainted with the full canon and learn more about Geralt and the lore behind the world building. I didn't really know what to expect picking up the first book, but I'm really glad I did!

Minor: Rape
Geralt of Rivia is a Witcher - a former order of genetically modified humans tasked with killing the monsters of the world. Possibly the last of his kind, he is healing from massive injuries of his last hunt. While healing, we recalls several previous jobs he was sent on, reflecting on how not all the monsters in the world are monsters by their species.
In a rare occasion for me, I watched the first season of the adaptation before reading the book. Luckily, I think this actually enhanced my enjoyment of the book because it made it easier to follow.
The one thing I wasn't a fan of for this book was, because I was listening to the audiobook, it was not easy at the beginning to follow the switches between present and memory and all the different stories. This is something that would've been remedied by reading the book physically! However, I did quite like the performance of the audiobook and was able to figure out what was happening. I was worried that because of the short story format, I wouldn't like this book as much. Fortunately, these stories actually do feel like they are connected in theme and create an image of the world and who Geralt is as a character. I love the dark vibes of this world, with lots of GRRM-level corruption but with magic, and that it's another fantasy with all different types of creatures in it (we are losing this in modern fantasy!!!). I thought all the short stories were well crafted with engaging plots and characters as well as good themes. The stand-out part of this book of course is Geralt as a character - his tough and grim exterior that he covers his heroism with. I will say that this is also suffers a smidge from written-by-a-man syndrom in its writing of women, but it didn't bother me too much to take away my enjoyment.
Overall, I'm happy to add another fantasy series to my currently reading pile. If anyone else is nervous about starting this series because of its unconventional start, it's easier than it looks. And if that's not enough, try sampling the show before going in!

Me ha gustado mucho, cada capítulo cuenta una aventura de Geralt.
El lenguaje a veces es un poco complicado, pero ha sido muy entretenido y me dio pena terminarlo
