More a collection of stories than a novel, but it works fine as a somewhat intact narrative, also.

This reminds me heavily of much of the Elric books, in the way the stories are presented and the outsider sorcerer, if not really in too much else. But I think that's a great thing to be reminded of, so I liked it.

I liked this more than I expected to. The social and political commentary are much stronger than the Netflix show allowed. Don’t love the way he writes women, but I’ve seen worse in that regard.

A solid read. The way the fairy tales are looped in is nice, and you dont need any background with the fandom to enjoy the book. A bit of an uncomfortable focus on teenage girls.
