So sweet!

This was such a sweet story. It had just the amount of fun and heat I was looking for in the book I was in the mood for. It had funny moments and also emotional but not too much angst. I can't wait to start the second one.

I really enjoyed the premise of the story. The characters were likeable and well-developed. The writing and editing were great! But for some reason, I didn't feel like I really connected with the characters. After a while, I was just ready for the story to be over. I think, overall, it just wasn't for me, but many people will love the story! Again, good book, just not for me.

I gave By Your Side five stars because I simply loved it. The characters were interesting and very well developed, and Karla Sorensen makes you feel very invested in what happens to them.
Spoiler
I loved Casey, and I loved her growth as a character from blissfully unaware shopaholic to responsible and aware adult. The supporting characters - her friends and family - were all so different and it was really heartwarming to read scenes with Casey interacting with each of them. I loved Rachel, I have many Rachel's in my life, I think we all do. I secretly hope for another book on Rachel, because although By Your Side wasn't about Rachel, any mention of her life or struggles had me equally as interested.

Now, on to the smokeshow landlord...Jake was one of those deliriously hot lead male love interest that just makes you swoon. Or maybe it was his incredible dog...yeah, I definitely feel the dog gets an honorable mention for how totally awesome he was. But Jake and his dog, Remy, together? Yeah, they make your ovaries go KABOOM.

So, five awesome stars for totally rad characters, an interesting, perfectly paced plot, and just the right amount of suspense and conflict.

Heartwarming *trigger warning in review that does reveal a plot point/spoiler*

Karla is an excellent writer that never disappoints. This book was a extremely heartwarming, & hopeful. Characters are 3D, with true to life dreams, failings, fears, and lives. Kara takes the time to flesh out a plot that flows seamlessly, and has great pacing. Supporting characters are just has full and fresh as the main, and I was instantly invested in them which took me perfectly into the world created in the book. I could see the scenes coming alive as I read and had a smile on my face throughout the story. I also laughed, a lot, this books funny! In a true to life humorous way, it didn't feel put on or cheesy.

***trigger warning***
While it is a "spoiler" - I feel it is very important to warn survivors that an attempted SA does take place. Discerning readers will quickly see the signs the plot is moving thst way. The scene is NOT graphic in nature, and the writing of the scene & its after affects is handled with care by the author. I would like to thank the author for the care shown in book towards this subject.

Slllllooooowwww burn! Goodness these 2 went through a lot to get their HEA. I loved Jake but he had some hurdles to get over. Casey had some growing up to do and it was nice to see her mature over the course of this book….it was also fun watching her become a dog person lol. I’m intrigued by Casey’s brothers especially Tate and Dylan…looking forward to reading their stories!

Finished stronger than it started. Cute and fluffy and I'll give the next one a go, too :)

Nice story

Book 1 of the Three Little Words trio was terrific- I really loved Jake & Casey’s story. I like that the climatic event wasn’t the “hero saves the day & all is happily ever after “. The heart of the story really comes after.

I'm writing this review to say: don't read this book by Karla Sorensen; but do read all the rest of hers. I've just binged on eleven of her books over the past fortnight, but this one, her first, just isn't as good as the rest. So, go, please, read the rest!
This one didn't work for me. The heroine seemed whiny, immature, addicted to shopping (which I find creepy and damaging, not a cute, harmless hobby), and claimed to be OCD. Ah, I thought: how interesting to read about a character with this disability! Alas, no: it's a thoughtless way to say that she organizes things in her spare time. (Consider the comics of Lily Williams for a glimpse into this disorder. https://lilywilliamsart.com/portfolio/ocdcomics/#jp-carousel-4720 )
Since I wasn't interested in the characters and disengaged with the conflict that was signaled, I quit 30% in.
But read her other books. I liked them!
