Just re-read this book and it was just as addicting as the first time through. Heavy on the mythology, which I loved and a great sense of adventure throughout. Complex characters were developed amazingly well and were my favorite part of the book.

What I loved:
* Diversity. Transgender characters, an Asian setting, disabled characters whose disabilities are actually recognized.
* DRAGONS.
* Lush descriptions and vivid imagery.

What I disliked:
* Slow pacing.
* A great beginning was followed by an uneven and boring middle.
* The plot never gripped me.
* The anticlimactic ending with too much of a Disney-feel to it.

Final verdict:
Eon is a good blend of traditional fantasy, with dragons and an amazing world, as well as welcome diversity and new twists. Ultimately, the characters and story didn’t sit well with me for some reason.

Quick review:

4.5/5 stars.

I really liked the amount of minorities representation there was in this book. We have two disabled people, a trans woman, black and asian people. Amazing. 12/10.

Eon (I'm calling her like this because it's confusing) is a really good main character because the writer knows her flaws. She can't run much, doesn't know how to ride a horse, when she falls it hurts a fucking lot and can't get up without help, if she kneels for too long her bad leg hurts too. The only little moments when she can do some of these things is because she is under the influence of a dragon, and I found it to be quite satisfying, because heroes usually get their flaws overlooked and ignored.

As of the story, I thought it was slow, but that wasn't always a bad thing. The problem, though, was that description sometimes were just too much for me. I'm not a native English speaker, and I had trouble following the landscape's description and fight scenes. It wasn't that much of a problem because I could kind of decipher what the book was trying to tell me and grab the general idea of it, but it slowed my reading a lot. Again, this might be just a matter of language.

I liked how it ended but I didn't love it, I would've preferred a big ending with a bomb dropping. I'm not going to say I would've liked people to die because that's not true but it was kind of disappointing to see nobody died????? All this stress and strong emotions over almost nothing?????

I want to see more of Kygo in the following book!!!!!! And also what happened to Dillon and Ido!!!!!!!! Please!!!!!!!!!!

(SPOILER ALERT!!)

Moral of the story? Teruslah mencoba walau pernah gagal, tapi cari cara agar kegagalan tidak terulang.

It's just too slow at the start. Eon is a struggle sometimes to tolerate but slowly gets better.
