The one where Schierke is introduced. Took me some time reorienting at the tempo the way magic and the ethereal worlds are being rapidly expanded. Yet, in other ways a very interesting story with lots to think about.

Berserk's understanding of magic as mental health is perfect. It's not forcing a metaphor where spells cure depression or anxiety is a curse, its utilizing the deeply religious and psychological needs humans have historically turned to magic for, the language of emotions and elements people created pre-literacy, pre-academic psychology, the stuff your soul still feels when a good song or friendly faces trigger dopamine responses you can't put to words.

Volume 9 sees Guts and friends finally cohere into a full on Dungeons and Dragons party, saving a small town from trolls and forging new faith in friendships through the struggle. Still no slip ups, no weak arcs, no simplification of paneling, just lots of good and dense ideas, and a platform thats perfect for them to speak through.
