This book is well written and perfect for its target audience, middle-schoolers. I am giving this five stars because I'm convinced that if I had read this when I was in middle school, I would've been obsessed. I loved how perfectly he captured the iconic sass of a middle school kid. It truly cracked me up. I only wish that there were more cabins and more rep for minor gods. You'd think a camp that's existed for centuries would be more diverse and expansive.

Describing the book in 5 words: DND quest with middle-schoolers.

I am quite literally speechless. I’ve been putting this series off for years, but I’m finally reading it, and I’m so glad I decided to. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this series, and I already know I’m going to love this series. However, I do have Greek Mythology research to do now 🫡. I loved Annabeth. When I found out that her mom was Athena, I think I squealed for about ten minutes. If I would’ve read this a few years ago, I genuinely think I wouldn’t have liked it, so I’m glad I’m reading it now. Overall, I give it 4.75/5 stars, and I definitely recommend it. It wasn’t a complete 5 stars because of a few things that confused me, but I still loved it.

2.5 rounded up. Super fun easy breezy YA. It was fun to return to the Harry Potter era of YA explosion. The character are fun enough to get going and the humor is pretty great. I wasn’t sold on the narrative but I am hooked enough to give sea of monsters a shot.

It’s been nearly 15 years since I’ve read this book, and I am happy to report that it still holds up! I forgot how lovable Riordan’s characters were! What a great series and I’m excited to see how it’s been adapted into a TV show.
