Such a sweet story of bravery, courage, and paternal support. Buy this for all the dads, or soon-to-be dads in your life.
Paul with stories about Dads like Tell Me a Tattoo Story, or facing fears like Orion & the Dark.

Although I enjoyed the illustration style, I did not like the macho theme of guys having to project fearlessness or the idea that a comfort object is required for one to conquer his emotions.

April 2017 - a sweet story about fear and courage. I love the way the dinosaur looms large in Santat's illustrations. Ben asked for it again right away.

A super cute book about a boy who channels the strength and bravery of a dinosaur through the dinosaur toy he keeps in his pocket. The boy loses his toy and confides in his dad he can't sleep without his dinosaur. They go out and find the toy together, and bond over the experience.

Great for a dinosaur theme or Father's day.

It's great to show a loving and open relationship between a dad and son, but the story morphed from an overcoming fear tale into a very gendered "dads understand the necessity to not show fear" book. I want to read more books about sons being encouraged to show vulnerability (to both caregivers) and sons receiving and giving affection and this is definitely not it.
