so. i just finished this.
uhm- what the actual fuck just happened? this book ended on such a depressing note wow, im going to start reading the next book the moment im finished with this.

everything you need to know before you go into the series is that the writing gradually hooks you and is fun and easy to read, every heir in this book is an asshole, Darcy is going to be your love, and that tory is fucking amazing.

note:
i cannot write proper reviews ever, so this is the only thing as close to resembling one that you're getting from me.

I am obviously rooting for the Vega Twins but MY GOD was it frustrating to watch them just constantly cave to the Heirs’ good looks. The horrific introductions/first encounters they had with these men should have been enough to deter them for good, in my opinion. Absolutely nothing cute / steamy / enticing / romantic about any of those interactions. It was purely manipulation / abuse. I don’t really understand how this can even be classified as romance. BUT, it was an enticing story. I was constantly on edge, wondering what horrible thing the Heirs or the other students would do next. I really hope the twins get some revenge in book 2, because F*** those guys. Speaking of which - I’m also just a little disappointed we saw basically no progress for the twins in their own magic wielding abilities. They learned little to nothing despite them being in school / training for the entire book. I understand they needed to be lacking in order for the Heirs to continue to overpower them for this story line, but they could have at least learned some basics??? They’ve got a lot of catching up to do in book 2

This book follows twins darcy and tory as they a ripped from their mortal life and put into a ruthless academy of fae.
they find out they have the magic of all 4 elements which make them the most powerful in the school and they are the children of the former king and queen. They brutally bullied by the heirs and other students and nymphs are killing people and taking their powers
its brutal and challenging for them to navigate this new world they are dumped into but I really enjoyed the wrighting style and the pace of the story and can't wait to find out what happens next.
