I haven't read other books in this series, but that didn't stop me from enjoying this short story that comes between books 1 and 2 of the Shadowshaper Cypher series. I liked the workings of the ghost girl situation, the characterization of not only the characters but also their community, and the exploration of Izzy and Tee’s relationship.

📘The Gist 📘: As Tee works through some Shadowshaper stuff, she discovers a ghost girl in the basement. In the meantime, her girlfriend Izzy heads the search for a missing sports captain from their neighborhood. Tee and Izzy’s relationship is in trouble too!

📒Representation📒: BIPOC mc and sc, wlw mc

💕 For readers looking for 💕: a short ghost story, thrilling race to rescue a missing person, the complexities of relationships, queer characters, interconnected community that takes care of itself (partly out of necessity)
