"... love isn’t always rosy. Love demands effort. Sometimes it’s scary. The hardships that come with love will refine you with painful fire. But if you let them, the difficulties can also deepen love."

A story about Penelope who is afraid to build a romantic relationship with an airman because mostly her friends' relationship with their partner from the air force didn't work. So when Eli (a captain in the squadron I believe) asked for a second chance she was hesitant. After all, we have to remember that We can always make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.

A quick sweet read Solid 4 Stars from me.

This was cute. I liked the characters a lot and thought that the reasons for the characters not getting together right away made sense. I was a bit confused because the characters would flashback to something every other paragraph at some parts. There was also some setting stuff I skimmed, but I know she’s trying to set up the place of the series after this book. All in all short and cute.

I adored this sweet, short story. It was so much fun! Eli was a sweetheart and Penelope was a fun character. I loved how their relationship grew, it made for a lovely read. I can't wait for Sam's story!!

While novellas always make me want more, this one fits my needs better than most.
Penelope and Eli get a second chance after Eli's six month deployment to Syria. Penelope has one dating rule: military men are off-limits. Eli is tempting though and she lists her demands in an off hand manner to get him to back off. Penelope's challenge might be too irresistible to pass up.
Lucky for me, the first book in this series is weeks away from publishing so I can get back to Misty River!

This was a quick read, packed full of tension, with excellent character development, and a nice style.

I didn't care as much about their jobs or life outside of each other and Penelope's family, but those bits didn't take up too much space. I also was surprised by the Christian elements, as I didn't read the blurb first, but that, too, wasn't overbearingly present.

One scene was repeated in flashback and conversation right after each other, which could have been combined.

However, the story pulled me along and built tension easily. I enjoyed it overall.

4 stars!

Cute novella that is a prequel to the new Misty River Romance series. This book introduces us to Sam who is one of the main characters in Stay With Me. It also features Eli who also appears in Stay With Me.

In this book, Penelope has friends who have dated airmen and it didn't turn out so well. She is determined and made it a rule never to date someone in the military. When Eli, a friend of her brother's and a former crush returns from a mission in Syria, she is forced to decide if she can bend her rule for the handsome pilot.

Lots of fun moments in this novella, including a nod to Top Gun. Sweet clean romance! Highly recommend Stay With Me, the full novel and first book in the series.

Ending this year with this perfect summer novella. I might need to re-read the other books now because the group of friends is bigger than what I remember haha

I was hooked on 5% mark and couldn't put it down. Penelope and Eli are great characters.
