Love the vibe & highly recommend having a mariachi playlist on in the background for ~atmosphere~

CW: Sexism, grief, abandonment, foster care/adoption, sexual content, death of parent

I read this with both my eyes and ears (free to read or listen on KU). I wish I’d had time to continue with my eyes as the audio fell really flat for me. I didn’t feel the emotion and some of the boy voices were cringy.

That said, it was overall a cute Romeo and Juliet/west side story retelling.  While contemporary romance isn’t my fave, I did enjoy that it was set in San Antonio and the MCs were good characters.

I’m kicking myself for taking so long to read this one.

I absolutely loved this story. This was a cool twist to Romeo and Juliet with a little West Side story mixed into it. I couldn’t put this book down once I started it.

similar to one of my favorite musicals, but featuring latinx rep and mariachi bands.  I absolutely loved this book, and I am now a new fan of this author and will be devouring her back-list hopefully very soon.

This may be my favorite Priscilla Oliveras book so far! I loved this Romeo and Juliet retelling and really appreciated learning more about mariachi music and Latin culture.

As with all of her romance novels, Oliveras deftly weaves an engaging romance with Latin culture and phrasing that really engrossed a reader in the story. Reading this story made me want to hop on a flight to San Antonio and visit Casa Capuleta myself!

Alongside the themes of familial loss and gain, the foster system, and what it means to follow your heart, Mariana and Angelo’s story was so wonderfully written and I cannot wait to read more about the Capuleta Sisters in future books!

This is a must-read romance for your summer TBR that is sure to tug on your heartstrings! I cannot wait for the sequel to be released next year!

*I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.

What an absolute delight. The FMC in this book never annoyed me. She is dedicated to her family and responsible. The MMC is honestly perfect. This was low angst, high serotonin. I anticipate devouring this series.

I think this was a really cute love story with some Romeo and Juliet influences without relying too heavily on shakespeare. These characters are their own lovable people that you can’t help but root for. I loved reading it and watching them get together. It took me a long while to get into it but that was my fault not the book’s. It got good pretty quickly once I focused on finishing it. Definitely give it a chance!!!
