This second chance romance is the third novel in the Pine Hollow series by Lizzie Shane. This was my first Lizzie Shane book and it will not be my last. I absolutely loved this book. You do not have to have read the previous books in this series, but reading it will make you want to get them right away!

This is a predictable, sweet love story, that is most definitely Hallmark-esque. Both Elinor and Levi have their own baggage and Levi really didn't think he was good enough for Elinor. My heart broke with how much hurt Elinor still carried from being blindsided by Levi breaking off their engagement. It had been three years and the pain is still so raw and real. I found myself with tears more then one time in this book, because the feelings both Elinor and Levi had were so raw, and real.

Lizzie Shane did a great job of setting the scene in Pine Hollow. I found myself dreaming of living in the quaint town in Vermont. The cast of characters in this book were great, but Dory, the Australian Shepherd, and Astrid, Elinor's niece, stole the show for me. They were both awesome in their own respects and I absolutely loved how Dory brought out the best in Elinor and Levi.

Both Elinor and Levi had a lot of personal growth in this book and it felt very real to me. The author did a great job writing this growth and getting the reader to believe that changes had been made.

If you love second chance romance with a lot of heart and soul, this is the book for you! Thank you to Forever publishing for a copy of this book for review. All opinions are 100% mine.

To All the Dogs I've Loved Before by Lizzie Shane

First love gets a second chance when a mischievous dog finds a way to keep fetching the town librarian’s high school sweetheart in this charming small-town romance.

The last person librarian Elinor Rodriguez wants to spend time with is her first love, Levi Jackson, but it seems her mischievous rescue dog has other ideas. Without fail, Dory slips from the house whenever Elinor’s back is turned. And in Pine Hollow, calls about a dog herding cars on Main Street go straight to Levi. The quietly intense lawman broke Elinor’s heart once, and now she’s determined to move on, no matter how much she misses him.

This is a light-hearted, sweet and easy book to read. I read the first book in the series, but not the second - however I found that this book worked well as a standalone. A predictable plot with Hallmark Movie vibes.

Elinor and Levi have had a rocky relationship. This book shows that real life can get in the way and with lack of communication it can snowball from there. I enjoyed this book over all. It was a slow burn for me, sometimes too much so. But overall I did enjoy it.

I enjoyed reading this book. It is full of the small-town charm I’ve come to love with highly likeable characters. Dory’s adventures provided both some comedy and drama to the story: you can’t help but fall for this lovable canine.

Second-chance romance is one of my favourite tropes. Three years after Levi suddenly broke off their engagement without any explanation has left Elinor still confused and angry about the sudden break-up. They’d been a couple on and off since high school and had finally been a place where they could marry.

The reason for the break up was slowly revealed, as was the history of their relationship. Levi has a complex history surrounding the way he was parented and educated including a late-to-diagnose learning challenge. After a tragedy on the job, Levi’s focus is keeping the town safe despite everything he must sacrifice to do so.

Elinor has always been seen by the town for her exceptional intellect. As the school’s librarian, she’s trying to connect with as many students as she can. As a budding author, she knows it’s time to try and write the book she’s always wanted to publish.

The star of the book for me was Dory - a good example of a dog bred to be working dog who doesn’t appreciate being alone at home while Elinor is away. The way the town embraces Dory is loving and heart-warming. I’m looking forward to reading the other books in this series.

Thank you to Forever Publishing for the finished copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
