I wish I could like this book much more than I did.

I enjoyed the story of Shams and Rumi, but it seems too long and I feel like this book has perhaps not aged so well. Ella as the perfect wife suddenly giving it all up for doomed love with Aziz, manipulative Shams, and such a big cast of extras that it was hard to keep them all in line. The book is almost a love letter to Sufism, and requires a bit of a leap of faith. Much like religion, and love. This would be a terrific introduction to Rumi and the mysticism that underpins the Abrahamic faiths.
