Magnus will forever be my favorite character from this series! I really only care about Magnus and Cleo at this point. A lot of the other characters I get annoyed with and I find myself looking forward to the chapters from Magnus’s or Cleo’s POV.
These books do constantly surprise me. Right when I think some issue has been worked out, something happens and it turns out that’s not the case. Or I think the storyline is moving in one direction and then it goes a different way. At times this can be annoying, but at least these books keep me on my toes!
I loved all the magic in this book. I thought there would be a lot more magic throughout this series, but there really has been very little this whole time. But at least in this book there are several people wielding it. I’m looking forward to the final book!

every book of this series is always between 3 and 4 stars for me. i just feel like it has so much potential but it just never really does anything.
once again, cleo is being described as “manipulative” when she literally hasnt done anything like that. i really wish had though. if she really was everything these books say she is this wouldve been my favorite series, but its just not the case.
i really hate lucia, shes really annoying to me. im not really sure if im supposed to hate her, because these books make it seem like i should sympathise but shes just stupid and so gullible and her chapters are always the most boring ones.
i love nerissa, she is everything cleo wishes she was lol.
jonas is fine, his chapters just always make me realise how i might actually hate all the royals. why does nobody seem to give a fuck about paelsia? this is not really a spoiler cause it was in the last books but even cleo (who we are supposed to root for) just doesnt care and i dont think shed be a different ruler than her father, who left paelsia to rot.
im not sure id still be reading this series without magnus, he really is its saving grace.

Enjoyable and fun to read, but definitely my least favorite of the series so far. 1 more to go! I'm definitely interested to know how this ends!

Dude istg every single possible plotline was MILKED in this book. A fast paced pregnancy, curses, mothers in law, queer people, dead people coming back, possession, parricide, revenge. And I don't even like all of the characters!!!! Hell I don't even know if I like ANY of them!!!!! Morgan Rhodes for sure knows how to write good plots to keep you hooked
