Is this folk horror? Maybe. So a grieving dude moves to the middle of nothing, population this sad dad, and woops? Is his house haunted? Or is his house preemptively inhabited? I liked the folk lore being carried all the way across the ocean by immigrants--even if it turns out these immigrants are white colonizers. It's interestingly done and if you like uncommon fairy tales, this might be up your alley.
