The Eyes of Kid Midas by Neal Shusterman

The Eyes of Kid Midas is similar to the books I've read and shows I've watched about abusing a magical item, and everything will/can go wrong after.

However, this book is kinda different to others because of a plot twist that was unbelievable in a good way. And the characters were witty and snarky in their own ways.

Anyway, it raises all sorts about bullying, friendship, family, reality, selfishness, revenge that left a lesson-mark in my heart.

I had fun.

Not my favorite Shusterman. The part of the story where Kevin tries shrinks Nicole Patterson into a pocket-sized version after she called him names because he tried to kiss her creeps me out. And then it turns out that she liked him all along, which is just so out of left field. Also, Kevin and Josh seemed to be rather one-dimensional and juvenile.

I have to admit that I read this just to see if it would make a good AR book for my son and it did. I love everything Neal Shusterman writes and this was no exception. The story was simple but engaging and perfect for a tween or teen. Recommended.

This was a fairly decent book to read. I'm a big fan of Neal Shusterman, but I think this was one of his weaker novels. It wasn't as gripping as his books usually are. I did think it was fairly entertaining, but it isn't my new favorite.

My sister had checked this out when she was in grade school, and I was in Junior High, I remember seeing the cover, and picking it up just to maybe read a few paragraphs and get a feel for the book. I finished it before I put it down. It's not very long at all, but it's a great book, and one that sticks with you.

Kevin finds a pair of magic sunglasses after his own glasses are smashed by a bully. These glasses give Kevin anything he could ever want - including a lot of power. Then things start to go awry in his world as he gets more and more addicted to the power.

Not as strong as some of Shusterman's other books, but a good read.
