It was written in third person and I couldn’t get past that. I had to read the name “Alex” about 20 times per page and I wanted to scream. I liked the characters and plot but couldn’t stand the writing. So I watched the movie instead and it was really good :)

The very last words Alex and Henry say to each other are “We won.” which I cried about a little tbh. The tone of defiant victory in the last third of this book healed a part of my soul and I will carry my love for these characters with me for the rest of my life.

Forever and ever and ever obsessed. I know it’s not the most important book ever written, but this book was written with magic. It is so sweet and lovely and full of hope. Alex and Henry are just ❤️

I was fully preparing to give this book a solid 4.5 stars... until the last 100 pages. The first 2/3 of the book had me thinking it would be one of my new favorite romances. It was so sweet, and I fell in love with both of the main characters. The enemies to lovers trope always gets me too... But then the end of the book totally lost the plot. The author forgot about the love story altogether, and focused completely on the politics. Not to mention- it was completely outlandish. The good guys won the day! Everyone loves gay people! Yippee! It wasn't accurate at all. And they wrapped up Henry and Alex's story in like, two pages. The ending of this book deserves a 1 star, but I really couldn't put it down for the first 200+ pages.
