My son really likes this series - they're cute and perfect for when your child is ready for chapter books. These little chicks are not very bright!

Not very fond of the overall tone and voice of the series. Plus, it has a lot of American slang and informal sentence constructions which makes this early chapter book a challenge for non-American readers. Like “The hard kind of trouble. The ransom note, accidental
fire, wing-in-a-sling, my-brother-is-stuck-in-the-garden-hose kind of trouble”. Or “you wouldn’t know an inch if you see one.”

The chicken brothers are back with a quick intro from JJ Tully himself!
I love this series - a little easier than the JJ Tully mysteries - but with all the humor.

This second Chicken Squad mystery has Dirt, Sugar, Poppy, and Sweetie helping a blue jay (otherwise known as a weird blue chicken) find her stolen house. They manage to solve the mystery and save the day in their usual creative way. It is sure to provide laughs among the early readers. Recommended for grades 1-3. You do not have to have the read the first book in the series.

This series is a hoot! Perfect for lower to mid-elementary aged kids, new chapter book readers, and for reading out loud.
