Incredibly gripping tale, though I can't imagine everyone having so many complex dialogues in such a situation lol.

Brown certainly has a way of writing things that will keep you turning pages. But sometimes it's corny and predictable, bad in a way it's almost good.

Anyways I will have to go to Italy to see its artistic wonders one day.

Interesting historical fiction adventure that weaves conspiracy theories with historic truths in a manner similar in tropes to the National Treasure movies.
The mystery itself is interesting, but unfortunately, it becomes apparent quickly that this book was written by a man in the year 2000.
I had the biggest problem with the main character, Professor Robert Langdon, who is middle aged but "still handsome" and does 50 laps in the college pool in the morning and is incredibly brilliant and also brave. It's giving mary sue vibes. It's giving self insert for the author.
The romance was completely unbelievable as well. Why and how did this beautiful young woman fall in love with a middle aged man she's known for 1 day is beyond me. There was no build-up in their relationship. She can do better. Again, it's giving self-insert.
Some of the offensive language used in this book was also hard to read through. There was one scene in particular where
Robert Langdon is half-concious, washed ashore after falling out of a helicopter, and feels nurses and doctors rummaging around in his pockets so they can ID him. He thinks they're Gypsies stealing from him. This slur reinforces harmful sterotypes that have been used against the Romani people for decades.
While keeping in mind this was written more than 25 years ago with antiquated slang/language, it is still worth it in my opinion to acknowledge that this is a slur and offensive.

Dan Brown’s Robert Langdon series was my gateway to mystery/thriller and to my interest in the history of secret societies and art as well as historical figures, locations and events. Since I’m not a Catholic, nor was I raised as one, I learned more about the religion and its history than I did while I was growing up. It was refreshing to read this book after 10+ years have passed since I last read it.

**Spoiler**
With that said, two morals of this book which I was taught growing up as a Christian (separate from Catholicism):
1) Christians are encouraged to spread the Word of God and not spread judgement. If someone makes a mistake that goes against God, then they will answer to God, the Law (if applicable like murder and theft) and no one else.
2) One of the Ten Commandments is to not say God’s name in vain. There are different interpretations but I believe it means to not do an act and say you’re doing it in God’s name.
