Loved the first book but this one didn't quite click. A nice read, but nothing more.

Really enjoyed this as I am a fan of well written US crime noir novels. Sallis is a master. Read it - some of the dialogue just takes your breath away - how did he do that??? scenario.

One more excellent thriller featuring Driver. He is now being hunted after years of living under false name and finally finding what might be called normal life. He is trying to find his pursuers and make an end to it but not everything is like it seems.

For Parker fans and fans of the original novel "Drive" highly recommended.

About the Book: Driver enters new life, having ran from the previous chaos and danger, the double-crossings. And all goes truly well up until someone finds him again. Pushed to run with his life getting systematically destroyed, driver is preparing to face whoever is doing this and find out why.

My Opinion: I really hate scattered plot. Especially those that are more philosophical monologues than any distinct action. So while the book is well written, even if lacking in some kind of order, and there’s even good plot twists, it just got too dull and became too much work too soon.

A worthy return for the Driver With No Name. So gritty you'll be finding traces of it under your fingernails long after you put it down.

A more enjoyable book than its predecessor, "Drive," largely because the writing is a little less spare and there's a bit more of a sense of Driver as a character. But it's still pretty short and blunt, little more than a series of action scenes where Driver deals with a seemingly endless wave of completely anonymous thugs who come after him. His enemies are strangely incompetent, given who they are — a mystery that runs throughout the book and turns out to be unfortunately obvious in the end.

I loved the movie, Drive, which led me to pick up the book it was based on. I loved that, too. So, of course, I expected to love this. ...I did not. It's only 147 pages, yet it's packed with indistinct characters, and more time is spent on language that sounds "cool" rather than explaining the overly Byzantine plot. It's too bad; I'd really liked that first book. At least I like Sallis's style.

Driven is really big piece of apple pie for dessert.
