Bullet Review:

Manga is one of those genres I typically avoid, but a goal for 2013 was to try something I normally wouldn't. After loads of amazing recommendations, I settled on Death Note.

Turns out, that was a good choice. Great characters, interesting story, brisk, exciting pace. Not sure I'll be joking head-first into manga and I won't be buying the whole Death Note line (2014's goal is to reduce book spending and read only my own books), but if you are interested in checking out Mangas, this is a good place to start!!

The only manga I have read until now has been the Warriors by Erin Hunter manga trilogies. I've never felt compelled to read comics or other mangas.

I have heard Death Note mentioned many times and thought it sounded pretty cool so I decided to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised. I can't say that I am a manga fan, I definitely prefer novels. But I quite enjoyed Death Note and will be continuing the series and other mangas.

Mind-blowing! Forget what you know, lay aside what you've read and toss out the rulebook... for you're about to enter a world that doesn't belong to us.

I watched the Deathnote tv show while I was in High School, but I’ve been wanting to read the comic for a while as well.

Such a fascinating concept! The character of Light is also interesting. He is the protagonist, and believes that what he is doing is moral, but acts as more of an antagonist in the world that he lives in. He’s not really an antihero, but he’s not really a villain. His character is written like a hero, but he doesn’t act like one would.

The idea of the Death Note is also unique and opens up opportunities for different plot lines.

I’m excited to continue reading this series. Thankfully I have a terrible memory, so I can still be surprised at it, lol.
