I received this book as a giveaway on Goodreads.

I thought the concept was brilliant- Wayne Manor turning into Arkham Manor? So many ways the story could go. And, it was a good ol' detective story too! What could go wrong?

Unfortunately, the characters killed off weren't people I had any interest in, and the characters left alive weren't particularly interesting either. The ending was pretty anti-climactic as well.

I've given it a 3 because the art was great and Mr. Freeze was awesome! I'd read the book again just for him. :)

Poor Bats is getting the big old one star on this one. I still love him though.

So Wayne Manor is being turned over as an insane asylum for the baddies. I didn't really figure out as to the why except that people were whining about the previous location.

Of course that goes well as always.
I don't know if it's just that I didn't read this one right or what. It just didn't make any sense for me. I like Mr. Freeze and wanted a bit more of him in the story but I never figured the rest of it out.
It does have pretty pictures though.

This felt not too dissimilar to a six-issue arc on Detective Comics. It's essentially a small scale murder mystery set in the midst of Batman Eternal. At this point in the story Wayne Manor is temporarily seized and used as the new Arkham Asylum. Author Gerry Duggan avoids the typical Rouges Gallery formula and instead writes a tight and interesting mystery bringing Batman deeper inside the Manor than ever before.

Worth a read even without pre-existing knowledge of the Batman Eternal storyline.

Batman Eternal - ★★★½

A good single-volume series (unfortunately) with good writing from Gerry Duggan and decent artwork from Shawn Crystal (but I've come to expect Greg Capullo-style Batman) that explores what becomes of Arkham Asylum after its destruction in 'Batman: Eternal'.

3.5/5. Great premise and interesting ideas, but the execution wasn't quite the greatest. Still, a fun and enjoyable read.

The artwork was amazing, I really like this style and I'm going to have to look up more work by Shawn Crystal now.

The story was pretty good, I found it interesting that Wayne Manor was taken over and is used as the new Arkham Asylum.

Some things that confused me though...
SpoilerThe spider character, I'm going to have to look more into that. As I have not seen or heard of him before. Why does no one believe that the big blob like thing is Clayface, it's clearly him. Who's the guy who freaks out when he gets put into the Joker's cell, and where did the Joker go? What's up with Dr. Arkham?

This is just wonderful. I'm not sure who has taken control of the Batman-verse at DC, but they can do no wrong lately. Simply stories coming out of organic ideas. Wayne loses the fortune, causes problems in the city, they seize Wayne Manor to turn into the new Arkham. A really scary story with a lot of tension and great Batman moments. Just terrific stuff.

Simultaneously spooky and goofy; exactly the sort of mixture Batman could use. Crystal's slinky style may not be to everyone's taste, but I think it's put to great use here. Mr. Freeze steals several scenes, leading me to want more of this iteration of him in future books.
