I absolutely ADORED Mary Angelou’s collection of poems. I have heard this is one of the best out of her numerous publications so I’m glad I got this one.

Although she uses basic words and phrases at times, it is magical in its simplicity. For something published over 44 years ago, she has a way of making it relatable and relevant no matter the period in time.

I loved this poetry collection, its themes on racism and feminism were amazing and I love the way she dissects things like being a housewife, colourism and more. I also love her prose and rhythm as it feels like you’re having a conversation with her. Overall would highly recommend and think that anyone can enjoy this.
