I've read the first three in this series. And yes, this is the same Rick Riordan who wrote The Lightning Thief series. The mysteries are convoluted but the characters are fun and Riordan delivers a real sense of of the grimy side of San Antonio. Or, at least, it feels real to someone from Minnesota. These books could do with tighter editing but they are fun vacation reads.
